Forks is located on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula, close to Olympic National Park’s Pacific Ocean beaches and the Hoh River Rain Forest. Truly, we are located in a beautiful and wild part of the world.
For many years it seemed that Forks was always receiving a lot of bad press. At one point we were labeled the armpit of Washington and then later one of the worst places to live in the United States. To each their own. Our traditional resource economies also suffered in the late 1980's and early 1990's as environmental values changed and American consumption found new unregulated, cheap supply abroad. Many of our longtime families had to uproot and move away to a new life and that pain still lingers here.
The last few years have been new, exciting and even uncomfortable times here though. Suddenly, with the arrival of the Twilight series, we are cool, exciting, and dangerous in a young, romantic sort of way. Tour buses travel regularly through our neighborhoods and people from across the world wear Forks Spartan colors and clothing. Visitors flock from far-and-wide in search of a Hollywood mystique that in some ways we resemble and many ways we do not. We do appreciate each and every one of you that has come to visit us though. Thank you for sharing of your time and interest and we hope that your visits here always touch your heart. Please remember us through the years and visit again to enjoy all that our lovely area has to offer. We will always look forward to meeting you and sharing your memories.
Still, life goes on and there are jobs to do, schoolwork to complete and a city to run. If you thought it was a long trip here it is always the same long trip to where you are when we leave town. The rains fall much of the year, storms blow in off the ocean, and the elk always rip up a person's yard. So, wherever you may be, be safe, be kind to those around you and be the best person you can be.
