Draft Ordinance and Application for Business License ![]()
On the 6th of February 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Commission by a 5-3 vote adopted a two year moratorium on the retention of wild steelhead in Washington. The City of Forks had in 2001 opposed a similar proposal and opposes this moratorium with regard to the rivers of the Olympic Peninsula. Below are a set of PDF documents associated with the City’s position on this matter. They include the initial letter of Mayor Reed to the Commission, and then are followed by the documents associated with the recently filed petition to amend the moratorium. The proposed amendments are noted below and can best be summarized as a proposal to return the sports fishing rules to those of the 2003-04 rule packet.
The petition and the two statements are provided in a digital format that was forwarded by the City to Perkins Coie, LLP. for final review and filing. There may be small minor changes (typos, grammatical, etc.) in the document filed with the Commission. The exhibits and the declarations are not currently available.
Finally, the City received a copy of a letter from members of the State legislature and it is provided here as a pdf as well.
